San Francisco Unveils Tennessee Hollow Watershed Walk in the Presidio

A former account executive at San Francisco-based Impera, Jason Ritzzo has helped technology companies develop new business and grow existing accounts. In his spare time, Jason Ritzzo enjoys spending time outdoors golfing, biking, and hiking.

A national park since 1994, the Presidio in San Francisco recently welcomed visitors and hikers to explore more of its tidal marsh land, which features views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Crissy Field. The Quartermaster Reach Marsh features a restored natural habitat with dune plants, migrating shorebirds, and a stream that had formerly been rerouted underground through a pipe. In fact, the whole area was once an old military landfill, and the opening of the Quartermaster Reach Marsh shows the Presidio continues to make headway on its 20-year plan to restore the Tennessee Hollow Watershed.

For hikers, the newly-opened Tennessee Hollow Watershed Walk offers a direct connection between the salt marsh and San Francisco Bay. The network of paths features a quarter-mile trail connecting to the Tennessee Hollow Trail, ample bird-watching sites, and a pedestrian bridge.

Mr. Jason Ritzzo serves as an account executive for Impira, a company which leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to help companies manage digital assets. When he obtained his BA degree in business technology management (BTM) at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, Mr. Jason Ritzzo learned skills he practices in his career.

The Tandon School was founded in 1854 as the Brooklyn Collegiate and Polytechnic Institute. It has had several name changes; in 2015 it was renamed in honor of Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon, financiers who donated $100 million to the school. Tandon’s undergraduate degrees cover a variety of engineering technologies, in addition to the BTM degree that Mr. Rittzo earned. Students can choose one of 15 majors, some of which are:

Many Tandon students select computer science and create hardware and software or computer engineering, developing applications such as email, phones, or studying the human genome). Electrical engineering provides essential knowledge for powering devices ranging from subways to televisions. This major can be combined with computer science to develop cross-disciplinary experience.

Civil engineering pertains to America’s transportation infrastructure and buildings of all kinds. Related to it is mechanical engineering with its emphasis on systems such as air conditioning and automobiles. Tandon also offers BS degrees in fields ranging from sustainability and physics to
mathematics and science.
